Daymaniyat Island - the Maldives of Oman

The Daymaniyat Islands (officially Al Dimaniyyat Islands Nature Reserve) are an archipelago of nine small islands sitting roughly 16–18 km offshore between Muscat and Barka. The reserve has been on the UNESCO World Heritage tentative list since 1997 and is widely described as a UNESCO-class marine reserve — making it one of the most protected and best-preserved snorkeling spots in the entire Arabian Gulf.

The water runs from bright turquoise to deep sapphire, the sand is almost white, and the protected reefs are home to sea turtles, reef sharks, moray eels, rays and clouds of reef fish. Our sharing day trip runs from Seeb Marina with two or three snorkeling stops, full gear supplied and a light lunch on board — one of the easiest, best-value escapes from Muscat.

What to expect on the Daymaniyat snorkeling day trip

  • Sharing day trip from Seeb Marina with a 25-minute boat ride to the islands

Who the Daymaniyat Islands trip is for

This sharing day trip is ideal for couples, families, solo travellers, photographers and small groups of friends who want a relaxed day on the water with everything organised. You don't need to be a strong swimmer — the guide short-staffs groups to make sure beginners and children get plenty of attention in calm, shallow spots. The only thing to bring is a towel, sunscreen and a sense of adventure; we handle the rest.

Frequently Asked Questions.

The Daymaniyat (Al Dimaniyyat) Islands are an archipelago of nine protected islands about 16–18 km offshore of the Muscat–Barka coast. Our sharing day trip departs from Seeb Marina in Al Seeb — the boat ride takes around 25 minutes, and free parking is available on site.

Sand-white beaches, water that fades from turquoise to sapphire and protected reefs full of marine life — the Daymaniyat Islands have more than earned the nickname. Unlike the Maldives they are only a 25-minute boat ride from Muscat, which makes them one of the easiest "tropical" day trips in the region.

The reserve has been on the UNESCO World Heritage tentative list since 1997 and is widely classified as a UNESCO-class marine reserve — one of the most protected snorkeling spots in the Arabian Gulf.

Expect colourful reef fish and corals at every stop; moray eels and rays in the deeper parts; and a strong chance of seeing both green and hawksbill sea turtles. From May to October, whale sharks are also occasionally seen in the area.

Meet at Seeb Marina at 8:50 AM, boat departs at 9:00 AM sharp, and the group is back at the marina by 1:00 PM. The crossing is roughly 25 minutes each way, with about 3.5 hours of snorkeling at 2–3 spots.

Adults 28 OMR, children (5–12) 15 OMR, under 5 free. An optional on-board BBQ (chicken / meat / fish) is 35 OMR per group. All gear, entry tickets, lunch, fruit, water and underwater photos are included.

No. Every guest wears a life jacket, the guide plans the stops around the group's comfort, and the shallow reefs are perfect for first-time snorkelers. If you can float and breathe through a snorkel, you can enjoy the trip.

Bring a towel, sunscreen (reef-safe where possible) and your sense of adventure — we handle everything else. Boat capacity is up to 16 guests, with a marine toilet on board and free parking at the marina.

Send a WhatsApp message or use the booking form on this page with your preferred date and the number of adults / children. Add the BBQ if you want it (35 OMR per group) and Ali will confirm your seats the same day.
