The Wadi Bani Awf Drive — one of the most spectacular off-road journeys in the Middle East
-
An adventure before the adventure
The road to Bilad Sayt threads through Wadi Bani Awf, where switchback climbs rise through sheer canyon walls and the cliffs of the Hajar range close in around you. The first 28 km from Al Hamra is largely paved and easy to moderate; the final approach into the village is steeper and rougher and requires a 4WD. Operator blogs describe the full track as one of the most technically demanding roads in the region — and one of the most rewarding.

Best for
Travellers comfortable with a 4x4 mountain road, photographers after dramatic landscape shots, and anyone who wants the journey to feel as memorable as the village at the end of it. The pace of the drive is always set to road and weather conditions — never to a schedule.
